The PRELUDE Study
The full title of the study is “PRELUDE: Implementation of HIV preexposure prophylaxis with antiretroviral medications among people at high risk for HIV infection: A demonstration project.” This study is designed to look into how clinics can provide PrEP in NSW.
It will study whether people in NSW find it easy and agreeable to take PrEP every day, why they take it, what it’s like to take it, and whether it changes how they have sex. It will study how easy it is for doctors to use it with their patients, and what resources are necessary to make PrEP available in NSW.
The PRELUDE Study is being conducted by a group of investigators at the Kirby Institute at UNSW Australia lead by Dr Iryna Zablotska, in partnership with a number of health services in NSW and community organisations, specifically the AIDS Council of NSW (ACON) and Positive Life NSW.
The study is being conducted out of participating health services in the Sydney area, as well as other parts of NSW.
